10 Reasons You Shouldn't Quit Art

Sat Jun 6, 2015, 5:25 AM
You know i keep my journals short, so i'll jump right to it.

1. When you get an idea for a character, or an illustration or a comic, you can just draw it. You don't have to browse and see if anyone else drew it already, or commission other artists to do it.

2. If you get really good at art, your favorite artist might watch you back.

3. You might eventually get paid for it.

4. Because even if there's tons of art out there, and many great artists, no one, and i mean NO ONE can ever draw what you draw. There can be similar ideas, but only you can bring your particular flavor of art to life.

5. The awesome comments. The better you get at art, the more awesome and elaborate comments you get. Who doesn't want to get praised?

6. Art trades with really good artists!

7. Because quitting is lame.

8. Because when IRL people ask you what you do and you say you're an artist, you get the most interesting reactions. It never gets old.

9. Because you get to browse the internet and look at art and call it research.

10. Because the act of creating, thinking and drawing is awesome. You probably wanna quit because you don't get enough attention, no favs etc, but before that, you drew for yourself, because you simply enjoyed doing it. But somewhere along the way, you forgot.

R-E-M-E-M-B-E-R.

Yuuza out! :iconsokkawatertribeplz:

Yea, people are so amazed all the time, i always get different reactions :lmao:
-what do you do for a living?
-i'm an artist
-you mean you're an exotic dancer?
-no, i'm an artist
-you mean you stay at home and do nothing all day?
-no, i work as an artist
-but you're probably not getting paid for it. You can't call it work if you're not getting paid
-no, i get paid
-ok... but i mean, what do you DO?
-i draw
-you mean, with your hands?
-yea, with my own 2 hands
-who employs you? why? why would anyone do that? why would anyone pay for art? cannot.... comprehend... brain... short-cir-cu---its :iconimdeadplz:

EXOTIC DANCER OMG :iconlaughsplz: EXCUse me for a moment while I DIE FROM LAUGHTER LMAO

Woooow that's actually kinda rude LOL it's like "why dafaq would they pay for art?" .________________. I can't believe there's still people out there who's so ignorant about the modern world... I bet the same people would have their brains explode when they find out Youtubers make money :iconheplz:

yea, here, exotic dancers and club entertainers (don't know the name of it in english, the chicks that dance in clubs for money), started calling themselves 'artists' to avoid the stigma that comes with the name of their proffession. I could have went on my whole life without knowing that! Oh well.
Yea, but they don't say it in a rude way, they are genuinely amazed, and at the end of they day, they still don't believe me completely, i can see it in their eyes. :)
Youtubers, yea, that would be even more otherworldly for them.

wait so like... strippers?:iconhappyscottyplz: i feel like that's probably not it lmao

ohhhh that's understandable... i heard that a lot of pole dancers in america like to call themselves gymnastics xD

It's cool tho how you're opening their eyes for them ^v^ Speaking of which what field of art do you specialize in? :iconicantbelieveitplz: I don't think I've ever asked you this haha I assumed that you're just a freelancer xD

I can't really quit it,too many good memories,i started it because i knew that no matter how long will it take-i'll strive for the highest
Now my workload is really big and sometimes i have to leave some drawings, making an intersection between the acts, the stories i'm making got really hard to put together
In my first two years i was drawing them way out of coontext, like there were massive gaps between every act
But now,as they close up now,i have little to think of
There are alot of times where i get frustrated really hard, because i can't piece it up,or trace the events to the next act, sometimes i think that my 3 branch stories are so apart, that they can't connect in any way
I always have to take a role of Sherlock Holmes to jump around inbetween the story acts...

Thanks, you really encouraged me to not give up. Lately I've been feeling like I lack the skill to create something great that ppl would enjoy because of the lack of attention, but now I know I just need to wait and keep creating c: thank you

they're all really good reason. exept if youre a french writer on english deviantart. because deviantart is racist toward anyone that is not english.

im waiting for the day deviantart is no longer racist to finish my fiction.

untill then, im a photographer.

Have to keep this is mind, because i get excited when i get new ideas, then the lack of response after i've done it just kills it... But yeah, i draw for myself not ANYONE ELSE... accidental capslock oops

That kind of posts really cheers me up. You are totally right! I have to never forget that drawing is a passion. Even if I'm slow to upgrade \o One day I'll be able to be proud of what I draw, I swear I am a dummy!

When it comes to number one, I get really discouraged. You want it to be true, but with the amount of unfair practices being done by more popular artists, and the bullying if people think you've "infringed" in some way... :/

Thank you Yuuza for reminding people why they draw :3 When I first started DA on my first account(it was some time ago)I barely got any attention and my drawings weren't that good, and I was feeling a bit down about it. But then I took up a new kind of art I simply love doing, and my drawing became a lot better, and now I get faves every day and a comment here and there, and a lot more Watchers. But I still do what I do because it's fun, and it's really nice to have my hard work appreciated, but I also appreciate every one else's hard art work. Keep doing what you're doing guys!
