this is somewhat of a remake of this drawing: i just felt like drawing L and then rain just came to my mind and one thing led to another. This pretty much sums up how shitty i feel right now. I hope you enjoy this drawing of L
First of all this piece is truly beautiful. You captured it beautifully. The raindrops look amazing. Especially the ones on his hair. The background is great and it really sets the mood. Though his skin tone sort of counteracts the mood because it is quite bright and cheery almost. I would suggest maybe next time making him more pale since he is in fact a very pale character. The skin tone you used actually sort of makes him look more alive. But other than that it is a truly wonderful piece. His hair is absolutely fanatic! This is my first critique so I hope it was helpful.
First of all, I love how he doesn't blend in with the background, sometimes people tend to make him all dark and gloomy and become one with the wall. This on the other hand looks more of a 3D effect and, oh look!! You can actually see him. He actually looks alive which is a feat itself. I love the rain so much and how the rain hits him. Love the little droplets in his hair. It's beautiful. Thank You for drawing this. Also you'll see this twice because I accidentally put this on the comment section before I put it in the critique one. But really this is gorgeous you beautiful person.
I must say, this is truly an amazing job you did. Both the art and animation are great as well as an improvement from your previous version, however I like the previous version as well. You did an excellent job at both drawings and animations! I really like them both.
I actually REALLY Like that you didn't make him super pale. I know how his character is supposed to be one that stays inside mostly, but people tend to forget he has both Japanese a English decent. He is supposed to actually be 1 quarter Japanese and 3 quarters English! So I pride you in making him a bit more tan. (This is what I have found at least so don't kill me) <3 Love the picture!
hehe i'm glad you think so. I actually inspired myself from the original art that has him represented with this kind of darker tone, he is only pale in the anime you know but i read the manga first. Many people complained he's too tan, but they obviously never seen the mangaka's artwork before. which is a pity because that art is AMAZING
I love how you used bigger rain drops when they are closer to the view point, and i adore how you put those drops in his hair. The only thing is that his skin is really pale, and in your piece right here it is rather tan looking. I think you did a wonderful job on it, though, keep up the good work!!! (i know i didn't put this on the critique thing, i didn't feel like it fail by me )
many people comment on the skin, i know in the anime L was made to have very pale skin but in the manga he was pretty tan-looking, here is a reference i used for his skin color upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… that is original art done by the mangaka, and the manga came before the anime you know it holds more true to the character
but nonetheless it is a rain scene and not normal lighting and i should have made his skin grayer because of the atmosphere
i am glad you like it though and thanks for the mini critique
Whoa! Amazing! I really love this animation! It's so detailed with all the different kinds of raindrops and I really like the way some of them are bigger and more blurred because they pass closer to the "camera". It is obvious that you put a lot of effort in this animation. The colours you used are also well chosen. Bottom line, I absolutely love it!
I love L. He's so interesting, how he can stay up so much without even having hallucinations or going insane from lack of sleep and eat so much sugar. ...seriously, that's all I've ever seen him eat is sweets, it's like fruits and veggies for him.
