Wow!!! I am lost for words here. I am really feeling the emotion within the image. Your vivid way of painting can really capture admiration. Focusing detail on the characters while omitting much detail on the trees draws attention to the focal point. The mid-motion brings a sense of life to it. The sense of loss and the apparent urgency of winged individual to save the girl, the reflection and lighting were well done. The dictionary may lack words to describe this irrefutably awesome picture. Ranking: A depiction of sheer awesomeness. Vision: 5 stars Originality: 5 stars Technique: 5 stars Impact: 5 stars
I like your painting style (with the strokes visible and all) but at some parts it looks like you painted the background "avoiding" the foreground, so that feels a bit weird and flatten your painting... unless that's what you were going for. I'm thinking about the slight teal-ish line under his wings, like an outline, because it doesn't feel like a light line like the yellow on the top does. or around the red bird on the right. if that makes any sense. But I really like it anyway !
oh, i didn't mention in the description but this is just a speedpaint i did for a sketch a day chalenge i had, but i liked this one so much that i added a few more details and posted it it's actually done in 2 hours, and yes, i did avoid the background from the foreground because it's all done on one layer! And i didn't have the patience to polish it more than this in case you're wondering, here are the rest of the sketches from the challenge but i did as for critique because it never hurts to hear some feedback
i liked the way you used wings of the subject to attract eyes as a hot color spot against all this cold background color and it really work good to expose the feel ,i mean the perception o f the situation
Aside from the beautiful colors, what I really love is how there is a story going on with this image. Good use of composition as well, the crows flying around the two keeps my eye focused on the center, especially the use of the high saturated orange/red colors, they make a great focal point!
I have no context about the story of these characters, but it isn't hard to feel empathy. The body postures, the light and the colors fading ... I have to admit it made me feel a bit sad, but, then again, that is the point of this very painting, so congratulations!
