Not really a tutorial but a step by step with explanations. Sorry the explanations are for more advanced users, i just didn't have enough room to explain basic stuff as well. But if you have questions don't hesitate to ask :D

Wow this is very clear and helpful!  ^^ I can't wait to try it!  But I have gimp so I guess I'd have to modify some steps... ^^0

One question, though.  How do you separate each element when you're picking out the important parts?  Do you re-draw your lineart onto each layer? Or do you just copy the lineart and post it in different layers, focusing on a different section for each one, while keeping the background clear so the other layers come through? ...or something like that? ^^0

i'm glad you find it useful :D
i don't neither of those things, when i make the lineart i lower the opacity of the sketch and even color the sketch blue, and then on a new clean layer i draw the lineart. When the lineart is finished i keep that layer on top at all times, and the colored layers underneath it don't have any lineart in them, they are solid color (untill i shade them). The lineart is made on a transparent layer not on a white layer so that means that it's see-through, it's like drawing on transparent plastic, when i color underneath the lineart stays clean and i don't have to be carefull not to ruin it.
I hope you understood something out of what i said here :D
